Gay rights...

I wanted to write something today about Gay rights... I want to first say I am straight, happily married with kids. Today I heard a statement that made me upset. They said current reports show that 7% of Americans are gay and forcing their agenda on the other 93% of us. The things is I agree gays need equal rights and I am sure there are many in that 93% that agree with me. To discriminate against someone because of their age, race, sex, and sexuality is WRONG! Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you look at it. Stop hating things that are different. This country was founded on the idea that all people were created equal and that we should all have equal rights, and all be entitled to pursuit of happiness. Guess what makes a gay couple happy? To live their lives as anyone else in our great nation. To be loved and to love openly, to work, to raise a family. These are all things EVERYONE has a right to. Please if you are tired of people discriminating stand up and add your name to the cause. Add yourself to the fight. Straight allies can help the rest of that 93% realize we won't tolerate hate! Check out http://www.hrc.org/ and if you are a gay, or questioning youth out there and struggling check out the http://www.thetrevorproject.org/ or heck you can contact me! It gets better because we make it better ... and if you are one of the people that are against gay marriage think about why ... When you vote for discrimination you are betraying the ideals of our forefathers. You shouldn't vote as your God tells you. You should vote as to what is right for ALL of our citizens or the freedom we stand for is a fraud. Freedom for all becomes freedom for some...

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." -Thomas Jefferson
